Come on people, you have to believe your eyes.
Well, a little bit of the BP containment cap is working. A Little. It is capturing, they say, around 5,000 barrels daily--but the amount leaking out is estimated to be 12,000 to 19,000 barrels--and even these estimates could well be low.
On June 7 Reuters reports that BP Plc (BP.L) "said it expected a second oil containment system, which would allow it to increase the amount of oil being captured from its leaking Gulf of Mexico well, to be available for deployment in mid-June."
The system to capture oil via a manifold, which was previously developed for the failed "top kill" attempt to shut the well, is in addition to the lower marine riser package (LMRP) containment cap and could allow BP to capture almost all the leaking oil, said the report.
The fact is, this is a major catastrophe, and we can't forget it. This ought to be the moment we go full speed into getting this country back to its strength in innovation and leadership. I just walked around my home and touched my Ford Escape hybrid. It gets 50 percent better mileage than my 1999 4-Runner. What a difference a decade makes, but with disasters like these, do we have another decade?
There's no surer way to destroy this nation than from the poison within.
