I'll give Inception psychological masterpiece status
Okay, here's the deal. I promised to write everyday about my life and make it last for a long time. Make it stick.
Well, today, was a bit of psychological thrilled as my life is. Dealing with people requires deep psychology, don't you think?
Well, we heard a lot of good things about the new Leonardo DiCaprio film Inception, and we have three kids, and this was our night out, beautiful hot Los Angeles night. We went to the best theater in the world, I think: the Arclight in Hollywood with reserved seats, and Ana and I have our favorites (no, I won't tell you where) and seeing a movie anyplace else just seems second rate when you have done this theater. It's really a dream sequence, and the film moves on different layers of dreams, much like the mind, and some people have learned that the most hardiest and most dangerous creature living today is the fully implanted idea. You know like: Hope--that big message that President Barack Obama sold everybody on during the days of his great campaign. Well, in this film, people have learned how to insinuate themselves into other people's dream, extend those dreams, fight against those defenders. This is a different world.
The film was a masterpiece, though I told Ana, "I don't want to see it again." That's true, too. As masterful as it is, it wasn't my cup of tea, and I already knew everything the film was showing, and I didn't relate to all the violence (though dreams are filled with it). The film wasn't character driven, either. That made it a bit thin. We barely wanted to root for the star to get back home because not enough of his humanity was revealed. But enough on this film. Go see it if you want. I wouldn't have gone the first time but I appreciate seeing a masterpiece too.
A masterpiece in the making that I love seeing is life. I have to praise the Lord for being merciful. I miss not going to church. We really haven't found one here that works for us. It's hard to find one sometimes when you're praying is usually done on the road at the missions along the Royal Road of California or in Florence, Italy. (Oh that's right, Ana and I watched Under the Tuscan Sun, which was great, very character driven, very real and very warm). That was a few nights ago. We're staying up late. It's so hot.
Sharla is sleeping over her girlfriends' home in another part ot the canyon tonight. Hunter is doing his water polo. I am very proud of both of them. Sharla is swimming while he does his water polo. It's great exercise for them both.
Last week one of our dear pets, one I inherited from Spenser, our bearded dragon, Anole, died. Anole was not our first. Draggy was Spenser's best friend and he lived a long time. So did Anole. God bless you, Anole.
I am working on the Green Patriot Bible too. I have a few chapters kind of roughed out. It's just a rant, mainly. I don't know. I keep talking about new things, new ideas, new ways to make things better in all ways, to be positive.
Oh, and we had dinner tonight at Campanile on La Brea. And driving down La Brea, we passed Ca' Brea, a really wonderful country Italian place. It's pricey too, and right on the door, they have a big blue sticker that says ATM Inside.
Can you beat that?
That's like putting ATM Inside on the front door of Mastro's or some other high end restaurant. You just don't do things like that. Now we will feel too weird to go there anymore. It was really strange. We saw it on the way to the movie theater.
Anyway, I better go now.
Talk to you later.
